Abstract

The article analyzes the language policy of Catherine II, who was one of the first to draw attention to the urgent need for cultural development of Russian society. The role of the Great Empress was a large-scale and legitimate public reform aimed at developing the first educational institutions that raise the culture of Russian literature. Management decisions of Catherine II laid the main directions of language policy, which are relevant and promising in modern Russia.
