Abstract

The author conducted a theoretical study of certain terms used in the legal sciences of the criminal law cycle and characterizing the mental state of a person. The term «riminally relevant mental states» was analyzed, which is a compilation of legal and psychological concepts. The authors ' team came to the conclusion that this term is devoid of scientific validity from the point of view of the methodology of psychology and lexical correspondence. In order to optimize the conceptual and categorical apparatus of the legal sciences of the criminal law cycle and bring it in accordance with modern psychological knowledge, the author of the collective proposed to introduce the term «negative changes in mental activity».
