Legal regulation of electronic identification of citizens as the basis of legal relations in the information society

Abstract

The article examines the formation and development of legal support for electronic identification of citizens, as a necessary element for establishing legal relations in the context of information interaction of subjects of law. Based on the analysis of legislation in the field of information and information technology, the features and disadvantages of such means of electronic identification of citizens as an electronic signature, an electronic identification card, and biometric data are consistently revealed. The paper draws a conclusion about the public-law approach to solving the issue of electronic identification of citizens, which can have a negative impact on the development of private legal relations.
