Modern India and its geopolitical aspirations

Abstract

The article presents an analysis of the main processes to diversify foreign policy relations and minimize geopolitical dependence within the framework of India's political uncertainty. They have allowed India to maintain close relations with Russia, which remains an important actor in the Eurasian space, as well as a strategic partner in the field of defense industry, agriculture and energy. Both states maintain a pragmatic approach to their relationship, especially regarding aspects of significant interest to the parties. Since 1998, in the context of sanctions imposed on India in connection with nuclear tests within the framework of the Porukhran-II project, the Russian Federation has remained the main partner for the supply of high-tech defense industry products and cooperation in nuclear energy.
