Abstract

This article assesses the role of the medical device industry in the economy and social sphere of the Moscow region. Moscow and the Moscow region together account for 15-20 % of Russia’s total production of medical equipment and 25-30 % of its consumption. The study identifies two regional development models: an innovative model (Moscow) and an industrial catch-up model (Moscow Region).
