Abstract

In the article the questions of social and economic polarization of regions and inequality of incomes of the population as the factors reducing the general social and economic stability of the state are considered. Existing indicators in the Russian Federation indicate a rather unfavorable situation in these issues. Polarization of the regions both for economic and social issues, a sharp stratification of economic and social indicators, a high Gini coefficient, a low percentage of the population with "sufficient" income to live, all this indicates serious problems in this area of state activity. The author is invited to explore positive examples of other countries in spatial alignment of the socio-economic situation, to change the institutional environment, to revise the concept of socioeconomic development fundamentally.
