Peculiarities of the legal status of magistrates in the Russian Federation

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the legal status of magistrates in the Russian Federation. The main provisions of the legislation defining their powers, responsibilities and place in the judicial system are considered in detail. Special attention is paid to guarantees of the independence of judges, as well as restrictions related to their activities. The article presents the results of a study that allows us to assess the role of magistrates in ensuring the accessibility of justice and the effectiveness of judicial proceedings. The author analyzes the current problems and challenges facing justices of the peace, and suggests possible directions for improving legislation.
